Rachel Jean Birch joined McNicol Ballet Collective in 2021, working with the team to develop their upcoming premiere of Moonbend.
In addition to MBC, Rachel is co-director and founder of Moving Art Management, and is a freelance producer, teacher, dancer and creative entrepreneur, specialising in dance.
Rachel trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and as a freelance dancer performed with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, Southpaw Dance Company, Surface Area Dance Theatre, Lo-Giudice Dance and Balbir Singh Dance Company. Alongside her work in dance, she worked on the programming team with Theatre Royal/City Hall Newcastle, O2 Academy/AGM and Live Nation curating music, comedy and live performance acts for large scale venues. Rachel has participated in the Clore Emerging Leaders programme and Dance City/Esmée Fairbairn’s Expanding Horizon’s programme.
