Beatrice Ferreira is a Canadian American composer and string improviser currently based in London. With a style described as ‘atmospheric, surreal… [and] occasionally unnerving - perhaps better to say haunted’ (Spectrum Culture), she draws upon traditional and contemporary materials to destabilize our perceptions of extra-musical sound. Beatrice has established herself in the classical music scene as a skilled yet playful voice. Her works have premiered at Snape Maltings, Barbican Centre, National Sawdust (NY), and Domaine Forget de Charlevoix (Quebec). She currently serves as Artist-in-Residence for the label Nonclassical.

In addition to her work as a composer, Beatrice is an experienced string improvisor. Past projects have included collaborations with Montreal bands Alex Rand and The Weather Holds. She holds a M.A. in Opera Making and Writing from Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London), and a B.Mus in composition from McGill University (Montreal).
